The Royal Barbados Police Force extends its sincere congratulations, gratitude and well-wishes to Mr. Leon Blades who spent his final day at his office at Central Police Station on Tuesday 10th July 2018 prior to proceeding on pre-retirement leave.

Mr. Blades joined the Force in 1972 and worked in several areas in his illustrious career but spent most of his years at the Traffic Department where he was a motorcyclist and rose through the ranks to become officer in charge of Traffic before a series of transfers to various departments.

He specializes in Traffic Management, Driver training and Road Safety training. He is credited with producing a television program series “DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DRIVE?” which targeted the issues affecting everyday drivers with situations, advice and practicals to correct bad driving practices on the roads of Barbados.

On Tuesday 10th July 2018, A short function was held in his honour by the staff and personnel of the Bridgetown Division during which appreciations were sent out to him from several staff and colleagues.

When he got his moment, he offer thanks to God Almighty; then to the Government and people of Barbados for allowing him to live and serve the people of Barbados for forty six (46) long unbroken years.

He has pledged to remain active during his retirement and continue his dance classes and Road Safety lectures, but, most importantly to spend a lot of quality time with his family.
