Revising Fee Structures as Rebranding Imminent: Sagicor with Cave Hill School of Business draw Memorandum of Understanding

As Barbadians continue to grapple with the aftermath of how the current Freundel Stuart regime reneged on its party’s founder’s pledge of free education, leaving many to ponder how the next generation will achieve tuition in an era of excessive taxation, a bold new undertaking between wise financial thinking and a centre for excellence in a specialised Memorandum Of Understanding allowing everyone to benefit from their partnership.

Sagicor Financial Corporation and The Cave Hill School of Business held a commemorative ceremony to celebrate a recent accord between both organizations. President and CEO of Sagicor Life Incorporated, Dr Patricia Downes-Grant told participants how both her organisation and CHSB address leadership in terms of human capital management and by brokering this new agreement, it enables both entities to draw on each other's expertise to create new synergies.

This partnership would enable Sagicor employees to draw on an Internal Corporate University, this virtual facility would allow staff to shore up their skills while still carrying out their regular duties. Dr Downes-Grant also disclosed how senior personnel would engage in Leadership courses.

The CHSB CEO added how their fee for the MBA course has not seen a rise in rates for the last 5 to 6 years, and if need by they create a payment plan by the week or month to allow pupils to complete their studies and attain their qualifications from a budget both feel comfortable with…

In his comprehensive contribution to the momentous occasion, Dr Don Marshall explained how PPP‘s or Public-Private Partnerships on a local, regional and global level is still in its infancy but the only way forward is through bold steps such as what exists now between the UWI department and the insurance conglomerate.

The noted lecturer also indicated while many may be unaware but the move hearkens back to when Emancipation led to a wave of Entrepreneurship through Barbados' then newly freed population and by building on the MOU fulfills an idea planted centuries gone by.

Dr Marshall even added that unemployed people once they can source funding now use their extra time to increase their skill-set to meet the workforce demands of the 21st century. But, he amended, many degrees’ curricula need to be studied for their relevancy in this day and age to see how best for meeting all requirements – including the students who pay to improve their minds, in addition to the companies who seek well prepared staff.
