Drivers and support crews across all disciplines organised by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) are making final preparations for the start of the 2026 season. Over the first two full weekends of March, rally drivers will begin their quest for championship points, along with grassroots autocross and off-road navigational competitors.

The BRC Autocross Championship opens the Club’s calendar, with the first of five rounds on Saturday, March 7, all of which will run at Bushy Park Barbados. Since 2009, the precision driving required at low speeds on an intricate course in this championship have provided many competitors with a solid grounding in car control, bringing newcomers to motor sport each year.

The following day, the Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship kicks off, continuing the legacy of navigational events on which the Rally Club was founded, as members prepare for the 70th Anniversary in 2027. While the championship only started in 2004, the June Safari (first run as the June Rally in 1957) is the region’s oldest motor sport event with a continuous history, apart from one year lost to the pandemic. A week later, the first two rounds of the BRC Driver’s and Class Championships are shared with the Motoring Club Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) Spring Blaze ’26.

This double-header sprint will run from Cherry Grove to Kendal Woods in St John and reverse to open the island’s closed-road motorsport season. There will be nine qualifying rounds between now and November, all of which will count towards a driver’s overall score, with the usual enhanced scale of points awarded for the Winter Rally finale.

The Champion Driver title will be won by the Class Champion with the highest number of points scored against his peers, with 4wd and 2wd Champions also to be crowned, based on overall results during the season.
