Ms. Watson said “Our latest motion is intended to persuade the FTC to prevent the BL&P from proceeding with its rate application which, as a consequence of the FTC’s recent Depreciation Decision, is now known to be based on incorrect rates and calculations.  In this case Barbados Light and Power would be allowed to recover the cost of its investment in generation assets through depreciation. Depreciation calculations are key to value of the assets that are included in the rate base. Annual Depreciation expense is a key component in the revenue requirement calculation. (TRICIA WATSON) For those who don’t want to read my long post on the appalling Economic Diversification and Growth Fund Bill 2025 tabled in our parliament on 25/12/09 and hurriedly debated on 2025/12/12, have a listen. This 12-page Bill about giving out $225 MILLION of OUR MONEY is very poorly drafted. Regulations are subsidiary legislation – they aren’t used to fix a bad main Act. By comparison, the Act passed last year to regulate small sea vessels like fishing boats and jet skis is a whopping 216 pages long! Don’t be misled. Don’t be distracted. Share! STAY VIGILANT!
