The development of our local film industry is well on the way as evidenced by such box office hits as the HUSH series, Chrissy and now Payday and Keeping Up with the Joneses; however it continues to be threatened by the piracy of our movies on the streets of Barbados.

Movies are expensive and funds are hard to come by.

Our Barbadian films have great potential, not only in creating avenues of expression but employment opportunities for the population and increased exposure for our tourism product overseas.

With this in mind we implore the relevant authorities to do their utmost to clean up piracy from our streets.

As we prepare to launch our long awaited “Chrissy” DVD this weekend, we also call on the public to be vigilant and only purchase “Chrissy” from legitimate sources.
