The Windward Cricket Club Intermediate side travelled to Black Rock, St. Michael this weekend, to play the final day of their match against the Psychiatric Hospital.
Needing 179 runs to take first innings points, they fell short by 23 runs making just 156/6, and putting the Black Rock team back in to add to their score.
The WCC bowling attack then took control of the 2nd innings, with Jewaun Cumberbatch taking 4 for 29 runs, Shae Branch 3 wickets for a miserly 3 runs and Ronaldo Callender 2 for just 10 runs, bowling out the home side for 76 runs and putting WCC back in, needing 99 runs in 15 overs to win the match with light fading and rain threatening in the distance.
The pair of Lamar Springer and Alan Branch went into bat, and immediately set about with the task at hand, quickly scoring 75 runs in 10 overs when Springer’s wicket fell with him on 20 off 20 balls.
Ryan Wiggins was next into bat and made 27 not out, along with Branch’s stellar 51 not out, giving the guys from the green and gold 100/1 and the win by 9 wickets, and thanks to nature raining out the Malvern/Alexandra match, the title of Zone B winners for 2019.
They’re now awaiting word from the BCA on who they face this Saturday.
