Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley and Principal of the Cave Hill Campus Eudine Barriteau inked the initiative into reality at Ilaro Court recently.
Speaking prior to the signing, Ms Mottley says it is not enough for the Civil Service to be qualified for their various duties, they must be aware of their purpose and have opportunities to further capabilities.
This, according to the Prime Minister, is why the Mission Statement was revised and she revealed it to those present for the occasion;-
Professor Barriteau in agreeing with the Prime Minister as to the significance of the MOU, also revealed how it benefits public sector staff who wish to take advantage of the opportunities provided;-
Ms Mottley also says it is a vital step towards not just breaking away from the colonial yoke which has entrenched the region for so long, but is a means of assisting the entrepreneurial spark essential for generations ahead to revitalize the Medium Small and Micro Enterprise sector crucial for financial expansion;-
The event was also a celebration of Barbados’ performance in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association’s Poster and Essay contest – 10 year old Noel Alder of St Paul’s Primary won for the Jr Essay Competition both locally and regionally while 13 year old Tonya Bowen from Queen’s College won in the Poster category.
