A major transformation and technological project unveiled by C&W Business and FLOW to aid micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) has been welcomed by Small Business Minister, Dwight Sutherland.

The project, known as Flow Business, was described by the Minister as one which would see local small businesses “immediately benefit from simplified plans and contracts, improved in-office connectivity, and around-the-clock support“.

Addressing the unveiling of The New Approach and Consumer Plans of C&W Business at Sandal’s Royal Barbados, Maxwell, Christ Church, he stressed it blended well with Government’s vision to position that sector “to be a globally competitive, technologically-driven sector, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of Barbados“.

Recounting C&W’s telecommunications history here since the mid-1800s, Mr. Sutherland said this provided not only a link to the outside world, but also established Barbados as a leader in telecommunications, through the development of an international hub here in the 1940s providing relay services, for instance, between London and Australia, London and New Zealand, and London and Montreal.

“Since that time, the world has changed. Barbados has changed and tonight’s unveiling will reveal that C&W Business has also changed. C&W Business and its parent company FLOW continue to innovate itself to remain relevant in today’s radically transforming information era. As such, C&W Business solutions are backed by its own Fibre Optic Network, which spans more than 48,000 km and is the largest network in the Pan Caribbean region. It is a network designed with enough capacity and durability to meet all the needs of the region into 2035 and beyond,” stressed the Minister, who is also responsible for Entrepreneurship and Commerce.

Meanwhile, Country Manager of FLOW Barbados, Jensen Sylvester, in explaining the project said with FLOW Business, C&W Business had established an entire new entity to provide dedicated support to local small businesses.

Noting that it combined simplicity with transparency and market leading combinations of super-fast broad band and futuristic voice services, he added it was centred on three “Cs” -connectivity, customization and customer experience.

According to Mr. Sylvester, these businesses have the offer of two new packages -Essential and Advance -which would provide solutions to power their devices for business specific needs, among other things.”SME customers aren’t just getting future-proof tailored solutions, they will enjoy dedicated around the clock support,” he noted.
