HIGHS AND LOWS FOR WINDWARD CRICKET CLUB
The Windward Intermediate side hosted Gladiola at the Lucas Street ground on Saturday under blue skies and blazing sun. Batting for the visitors, Kyle Franklyn scored 80 and S. Turney 22, on the way to Gladiola’s first innings score of 165 all out. Windward bowling was led by Renaldo Callender who took 6 wickets for 35 runs, while Jewan Cumberbatch got 3 for 11.
The Windward side then took to the pitch and scored 59 for 3, with Ryan Wiggins 31 not out, before close of play for the day. The match continues on Saturday June 1st at Lucas Street, when Windward Cricket Club resumes batting their first innings.
Meanwhile at Weymouth cricket ground, Windward’s Second Division side faced a strong Police team. After being bowled out for 78 last Saturday, the Windward side faced a daunting task of trying to play for a draw.
Unfortunately the Police bowling attack proved too strong, and Windward was bowled out for 70 runs in their second innings, with Captain Andrew Thornton getting 18 runs and Andre Archer 14. For Police, D. Murray took 3 wickets for 15 runs, giving them the victory by an innings and 71 runs.
Next week the Windward Second Division travels to King George the Fifth Memorial Park to face the King’s Park team.
