Residents in the areas of Pegwell Boggs, Church Hill and Charnocks Christ Church will soon have a team in the area conducting a survey on behalf of the Barbados National Terminal Company Ltd (BNTCL).

In a few weeks’ time, BNTCL will be embarking on a major pipeline maintenance programme for its Oistins to Terminal and Woodbourne to Terminal pipelines. This maintenance may cause some disruption to residents and motorists in the Pegwell Boggs, Charnocks, Church Hill and surrounding districts.

The BNTCL, in an effort to better stay in touch with residents, motorists and others in the areas identified, will be meeting stakeholders to determine the best way to communicate with them during the upcoming maintenance work.

The information gathered will also be used afterwards as part of the BNTCL outreach programme to work with the communities.

The purpose of the survey is to achieve a target of minimal disruption and secondly, to establish one-on-one contact with residents.

Surveyors will be asking interviewees about their use of WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram (IG), Twitter and email. Interviewees will be asked to submit an email address (if available) and a cellular phone number so that messages about the traffic changes can be channelled directly to them for their own safety and convenience. Surveyors will be carrying appropriate identification badges.

The BNTCL has undertaken the maintenance work in order to proactively maintain the highest industry standards and the integrity of the existing pipeline infrastructure.

It is expected that this work will continue for a period of five months until August 2019.
