The Thrive Family Centre was launched by the Sandy Lane Charitable Trust and opened by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley. She addressed sponsors, Ministry of Health officials, media and Members of Cabinet at the launch.
In recalling her near decade of service as Education Minister under another BLP regime, she noted there was one regret her portfolio had and one she plans to see redressed in the immediate future; –
Ms Mottley also cited a harrowing incident from her time as Education Minister which emphasised the need not just to treat children with mental challenges, but to make sure its environment is equally mentally sufficient and like the new facility, thriving; –
The Prime Minister also expressed disappointment with the closure of the Alma Parris Memorial School and hinted there are plans to review this decision by the previous administration.
