Barbadian receives the Award of the Belgian National Honour of Officer of the Order of Leopold II

The kingdom of Belgium expressed an interest in doing business with Barbados for waste management and transportation.

Guy Sevrin is the Belgian Ambassador Barbados and Jamaica, he is based in Kingston, but the envoy was here to deliver the Award of the Belgian National Honour of Officer of the Order of Leopold II to Ms. Jennifer Field, a Barbadian, who is the Honorary Consul of Belgium at Bridgetown in a special ceremony at George Washington House.

In relating the good deeds and works from Mrs Field, he also recalled when she assisted in a successful bid for Belgium to dredge the Bridgetown Harbour; -

The Belgian envoy was also quick to add how the kingdom can provide transportation solutions which are in keeping with Barbados’ renewable energy goals; –

It’s the first time such an honour was bestowed on a Barbadian and was also the first time someone outside of Belgium received this medal.
