Royal Fidelity continues its A+ record of awarding the country’s top teachers through their annual nation building initiative, the Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards, which was established in 2010.

“We are calling on the public to nominate teachers who go above and beyond their mandate to our children in their care,” said Jillian Nunes, Royal Fidelity’s Vice President and Barbados Country Head. “Please take the time to nominate a teacher you feel is worthy of recognition.”

Ms. Nunes indicated that nominations would be open for three weeks. "Nominations are now open and must reach us by Sunday, November 18. All members of the community, school administrators, parents and students can nominate a teacher."

A ‘Blue Ribbon Judging Panel’ comprised of prominent and respected persons from the education field will choose the ten (10) outstanding teachers who exemplify excellence from the expected hundreds of entries. The teachers selected will be awarded BDS $2,000 each and the title, “Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teacher, 2018.”

“We do this every year as we believe strongly that great teachers inspire greatness in our children. Therefore we want the general public to join us in showing appreciation to teachers by honouring them with a nomination. We also give prizes and recognition to the school with the most nominations. In this regard, we are delighted to have RBC Royal Bank as a gold sponsor this year” said Ms. Nunes.

Robert de Silva, Managing Director of RBC Royal Bank Barbados expressed his pleasure in supporting the 2018 Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards. “RBC has a long-standing commitment to endorsing programmes which highlight positive activities in our community. The Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards has provided such an outlet, which not only brings attention to the level of professional distinction among this island’s teachers but also reinforces the important role they play in society.”
