The seemingly jet setting by the Prime Minister of Barbados is not for style, but to ensure the remainder of the current hurricane season and any subsequent systems do not destroy Barbados or the region itself…

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of her constituency St Michael North East recently, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley touched on many topics.

In particular she cited not just Tropical Storms Isaac and Kirk which barely brushed past here yet caused chaos, she also cited the tropical wave which passed far south of Barbados; –

Ms Mottley indicated she is fully aware some Barbadians were questioning about her recent flights to San Diego and the United Nations General Assembly.

She told those gathered in her Bush Hall constituency office how those trips are to make sure Barbados is prepared for any drastic weather scenes similar to when people in St Thomas and St Joseph were without running water or the hurricanes which levelled Puerto Rico and Dominica last year; –

The Prime Minister told her newly voted executive officers, fellow MP’s Cynthia Forde and Kirk Humphrey as well as her loyal constituents her goal is to make sure Barbadians are prepared to weather any system before it can do damage like they have with other islands.
