MASS CASUALTY IN THE WEE HOURS BY DODDS ROAD, ST PHILIP
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a Mass Casualty incident which occurred sometime around ten past one this morning at Dodds Road, Dodds, St Philip.
Involved were a motor van driven by Kenneth Ashby 48 years of Water Street, Christ Church and a motor vehicle driven Keisha Fox 29 years an American Visitor staying at Eagle Hall, St. Michael.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both vehicles were travelling along the mentioned road in opposing directions when they became involved in a collision.
Each vehicle was carrying the respective drivers and four (4) passengers.
All (10) persons complained of various injuries as a result of the collision. Seven (7) were transferred to the QEH of which two (2) were classified as serious. One had suspected fractures to the extremities while the other patient had neck and chest pains; the other five (5) suffered minor injuries.
Three (3) persons were treated and discharged at the scene. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
Five (5) medical Doctors, one nurse, one (1) paramedic and an ambulance officer responded from the QEH.
A total of five (5) ambulances attended the scene; four (4) from the Ambulance Service and one (1) from the Barbados Defence Force.
Two (2) fire tenders and eight (8) personnel responded to the scene.
Three (3) personnel from Barbados Defence Force comprised of one driver and two privates.
