Geordies tour to compete in Barbados at Caribbean Squash Event

Squash players from Primrose Squash Club, Hebburn, are travelling to take part in the BCQS International Masters Squash Open in Barbados.

Competitors from both the men and women teams will be going to Barbados on May 14th to play against players from the far afield including Canada, Norway, America and Caribbean islands.

This is the 3rd year players from the club have participated in the event and this year sees the largest number of entrants from the club.

Tour organiser and first team player Shiv Pabary said: ‘This is an excellent opportunity to show-case and represent the North-East in one of the major squash Master’s tournaments in the Caribbean. Last year we brought home four trophies including runner up in the Over 55 men’s category and two plate winners. They love the Geordies there and we always receive a very warm welcome, having made some amazing friends and connections with other squash players. We have had a lot of interest from other squash clubs in the North East wishing to get involved which will strengthen the representation of our region in future’

The players will be staying in Barbados for a week with the finals being played on the Sunday morning followed by a boat trip around the island for all the squash players before returning home the next day.
