FLEDGLING UPP’s BANS ‘THE BAJAN REPORTER’ AFTER STORY OF POLITICAL CANDIDATE NOW IN DODDS FOR A CIVIL CASE

There are unconfirmed reports suggesting Hermon Lowe, a hopeful for the United Progressive Party, was arrested by court marshals after appearing in a case in District A Magistrates Court, Number One.

At the end of representing himself in the matter before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, marshals escorted Lowe from the courtroom into a waiting van. He is reportedly now at HMP Dodds.

The would-be candidate, of 1st Avenue Jackson, St. Michael, was looking to contest the St. Michael West Central seat in upcoming elections. It is understood if this case is correct, then the arrest refers to a civil matter from six years ago. CITA Radio sought to ascertain from Police sources if the story has a basis in fact, yet the official neither confirmed nor denied the situation.

The UPP has been subject to much non-political attention recently – first, Charleston Taylor was ejected after a Facebook entry concerning the legalisation of marijuana and a subsequent viral video serialised on YouTube with bajanreporteronline and available in full at BajanReporter.com.

Then Dr Maria Agard made an explicit reply to her commentary over the possibility a political manifesto was leaked to the public recently, yet she was not subject to any reprimand from the UPP. In Taylor’s case the UPP not only dismissed him from the party but rebuked the journalist for recording an interview with Taylor who is now seeking to run in St Philip independently.

The Agard crisis was just in the spotlight at a recent panel discussion at the Barbados Community College, and UPP hopeful Christal Austin expressed shock there was no aftermath concerning the vulgar remarks which offended many political pundits of all persuasions.

Mr Lowe‘s image and Dr Agard’s remain on the UPP site, yet when Charleston Taylor made his Facebook post on cannabis, his image was immediately removed. Dr Agard provided office space for the UPP to operate in earlier this year at her complex between Peterkin Road and Strathclyde…

It is also a matter of interest to note any subsequent political meetings with the fledgling movement have not been listed on their website but either via entries on Facebook or Instagram in the last ten days since the Taylor videos came to light.

OFFICIAL PARTY RESPONSE

The United Progressive Party has been advised by Mr. Hermon Lowe that a Court Order was enforced against him on March 28th, 2018. The Order arose out of mortgage payments due after a property settlement in divorce proceedings several years ago.

Given the long Easter Weekend it is difficult to obtain further details. More information will be shared with the public when advised by Mr Lowe.

BANNED FROM INSTAGRAM?

This is the screenshot from my personal IG account, where the Bajan UPP is in full view…

Subsequent to the story appearing on CITA 90.1 FM, when BajanReporter.com sought to ascertain what the UPP was doing, we found were unable to locate their Instagram page, unless we used our personal account – the differences noted via the following screenshots…

This screenshot is taken from my official “bajanreporteronline” account where the results are not the same yet was taken the same date and time as the previous image.
