INDEPENDENT MP DR MARIA AGARD MAY BE THINKING OF JOINING THE UNITED PROGRESSIVE PARTY

The United Progressive Party has new headquarters; they’re based at the Aastra Clinic in Strathclyde near Peterkin Road.

The donation of office space was provided by dentist Dr Maria Agard.

Listeners will recall Dr Agard had a tough road to travel since November 2015 after a tussle with the Barbados labour Party which led to her expulsion plus medical leave from the House Of Assembly.

UPP Leader Lynette Eastmond revealed the donation at a media gathering announcing their latest chapter in a series of Manifestoes, she admitted she asked Dr Agard to join the UPP but the Independent MP is yet to indicate if she accepts or rejects the proposal to change allegiance;-

The presentation was attended by Shadow Attorney General for the UPP Maria Phillips who’s also the candidate for St Michael North along with St Philip West hopeful Charleston Taylor, the press conference it was moderated by Ambrose Grosvenor.

If Dr Agard chooses to run under the UPP ticket, she faces William Duguid of the Main Opposition Barbados Labour Party, a former colleague as well as Sen. Verla DePeiza from the ruling Democratic Labour Party.
