BARBADOS’ SOLE LIVING NATIONAL HERO WANTS TO CATCH A TIGER BY THE TAIL

The last surviving National Hero of Barbados says not all cricketers who played for the West Indies should be there.

The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers was in St James to visit the Wanganui Collegiate team who have been touring Barbadian secondary schools for a series of friendlies, the bout with QC was cancelled due to heavy rains overnight.

In addressing both Kiwis and local students, the most famous cricketer since Sir William Gray had a very harsh assessment of Shivnarine Chanderpaul also known as “Tiger,” if he had a nickname for him, it probably wasn’t broadcastable;-

After Sir Garry’s rousing and thorough Q&A with students, parents and coaches, he was presented with a Wanganui cap by Team Captain Ben Kelt.
