Hi, everyone,
This year feels like it’s going down harder and faster than usual. Maybe for those of us in the region and its outer reaches, that has had something to do with the passing of storms and the sense of urgency they have left in their wake—to recover, to be thankful, to live. For friends, family and colleagues in other parts, it may have to do with shifting political landscapes or the quakes they cause. Whatever our situation, we seem to be carrying on, often in the only way we know how: volunteer cooks feed the hungry, teachers go on teaching their students, writers and artists find a way to express it all.
At ArtsEtc, we’re back again with, among other items, our Annual Independence Reading List — what we affectionately refer to as The IndyList — accompanied by reviews of past and present titles. We’ve (legitimately) claimed a St Lucian and (again) a Vincentian as also our own; highlighted new works for children and of speculative fiction; and recalled a classic guide to Bridgetown, Barbados’ capital.
We’d like to thank our sponsors and Art Partners and aiders and abettors, the Frank Collymore Literary Endowment, Bajan Reporter and Days Books, for their ongoing support of and belief in this effort to get more Bajans (and others) to read more of our writers.
Here’s a rundown of ALL our latest updates, including comics, essays and fiction:
