TWO BARBADIAN MEN HELD FOR FAILED ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE GANJA AT BRIDGETOWN PORT

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and jointly charged two Barbadian men for a number of drug related offences which were committed on Friday the 22nd of December 2017, while at the Bridgetown Port.

They are 31 year old Jamar Curwin Henderson Forde of Walkes Spring Tenantry, St. Thomas, and 54 year old Gregory Rudolph Grandison, of Proute Hill, St. Thomas.

Forde and Grandison were jointly charged for:

• Unlawful Possession of Cannabis
• Trafficking of Cannabis
• Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply
• Importation of Cannabis
• conspiring to traffic in Cannabis.

Circumstances

On Friday 22nd December 2017, Custom Officers at the Bridgetown Port discovered twenty (20) bluish taped packages containing Cannabis concealed in a compressor at the Port. The police were informed, and investigations were conducted, which resulted in the arrest of Forde and Grandison on the 28th of this month.

They appeared before Magistrate Douglas Fredericks in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Saturday the 30th of December 2017. They both pleaded not guilty to the offences, and were granted bail at the sum of $25,000.00 each to reappear in Court on the 11th of April 2018.
