A JUST CONCLUDED COMPETITION BY ONE OF THE ISLAND’S OLDEST RESTAURANTS, SHOWS UNDER-30 BAJANS EAGER TO LEARN OF THEIR HISTORY…

For the month of November, popular eatery Chicken Barn celebrated its 51st Anniversary – which coincided with Barbados’ Independence – by having a special Treasure Hunt via Facebook; the quest included participants taking selfies with 51 cents, a Black Belly sheep and an old time washboard or what old Barbadians called a jooking board among other clues.

$2,000.00 BBD was the top prize at stake and a 55″ JVC Flat Screen TV from Courts was 2nd place with tickets for 2 from Tiami Cruises at 3rd place.

Paul Hynam, one of the owners, was present this morning to present the lucky winners for their well earned victory. He observed many younger Barbadians participated and hoped when they have their next contest for even more contestants to come forward;-

27 year old Office Administrator Kela Marshall was the lucky lady to get the top cash prize, she says a large portion of her winnings will be to make sure her family gets Ham this Christmas. She explained what it was like to search for the clues;-

Kegan Cumberbatch is a Mechanical Fitter with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, he’s also 27 and his entries earned him the flat screen TV from Courts.

He’s very grateful as he is a serious sports fan and plans to try out the set as soon as he gets home. He was surprised at the reaction he got when obtaining one of his hard earned clues;-

Absent was Jaleesa Holder-Vaughn who got the cruise tickets, but Mr Hynam vowed she’d get her prize as soon as her schedule allows her to collect them…
