The Villages at Coverley will be lending a helping hand to the Optimist Club of Barbados South as part of activities to celebrate this year’s Christmas in the Villages. On December 16th Coverley Square will be transformed into a Christmas Wonderland, as hundreds gather to enjoy what has become a highly anticipated event.
Sales Manager at The Villages at Coverley, Catherine Perkins, says Christmas in The Villages was conceptualized in 2012 to “give back” to the residents and the general public, adding that it has grown tremendously over the past six years.

“Patrons are asked to bring non-perishable items to donate to this worthy cause. We’re really passionate about giving back and the Optimist Club helps many families around the island. We have a group on the outskirts of The Villages that is being helped by the Optimist Club and we would like your assistance.”

Mrs. Perkins says the Christmas Market has also expanded in the three years since it was added to the programme, noting that it provides an outlet for entrepreneurs and businesses to reach a larger cross-section of the public. The event is free and provides a safe environment for the whole family to come and spend the evening together, while enjoying some of the best entertainment on the island.
“Christmas in The Villages has become a favourite event for people across the island who see it as an opportunity to purchase unique and oftentimes personalized items as presents. On the other hand, it allows the entrepreneurs to tap into a diverse market, which often leads to further business following the event. The evening is then capped off by a full entertainment package, which highlights up-and-coming artistes as well as veterans in the industry.”

“Christmas in The Villages allows the general public to get a feel for the community lifestyle which is characteristic of The Villages at Coverley.”
