Two Schoolboys from Ellerslie chopping situation on remand

Police arrested and charged two (2) school boys in connection with the disturbing chopping matter which occurred on Wednesday the 22nd of November 2017, at the Ellerslie Secondary School, which resulted in a 16 year old male student of the school, receiving several cutlass slashes to his right hand, after a group of students became involved in an altercation in the canteen during the lunch time break.

The two (2) School boys, arrested and charged include a 15 year old, from Neptune Road, Deacons, St. Michael. He was formally charged for the offence of Inflicting Serious Bodily Harm, and a 16 year old, from Fustic Village, Checker Hall, St Lucy, who was charged for the offence of Wounding with Intent.

The two appeared before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court.

The 16-year-old boy was charged for the offence of wounding with intent, and was remanded to prison. He will reappear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on December 22.

The 15-year-old boy, who was charged for the offence of inflicting serious bodily harm, was remanded to the Government Industrial School and will return to Juvenile Court on November 29.
