THREE MEN IN CIBC FIRST CARIBBEAN’S “PAINT FOR THE CURE” HELPING TO RAISE MORE FUNDS FOR BREAST CANCER SCREENING

Paint For The Cure,” organised by the CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure Committee, concluded Breast Cancer Awareness month, with all proceeds going to the Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme.

It took place last Saturday at the Radisson Aquatica when some 47 women and three men got together to ‘Paint for the Cure‘. It was a happy group who followed the directions of Artist/Instructor Yazmin Vizcarrondo who took them through their paces. They painted “Take Flight” a picture of a bird with the pink ribbon symbolising ‘love, care, affection, hope health and freedom as they set warriors free who had lost their fight with breast cancer‘.

Patrons were treated to delicious treats including canapes, pink cupcakes and pink ribbon cookies compliments the Radisson, Dainty246 and Sugar and Spice Custom Cakes. Stansfeld Scott also donated the ‘painting juice‘ – some pink sparkling wine on which patrons sipped while they painted.

Walk Manager Krystle Maynard thanked all the patrons and the sponsors of the event explaining that because all of the expenses were covered by the sponsors, the funds collected would go towards the cause. Other sponsors included Chefette Restaurants, Fieldtech Staging Solutions and Laurie Dash.

One of the surprise highlights of the evening was when guests were asked to look under their chairs and Danielle Bourne pulled out an envelope which gave her a prize of dinner for two at Daphne’s Restaurant.

The Walk for the Cure – the biggest fundraising walk in Barbados took place on Sunday October 1st and attracted a crowd of over 15,000 persons this year.
