MOST RECENT ROAD FATALITY, FEMALE JOGGER
Police are conducting investigation into a Road fatality which occurred sometime around 5:40 am, on Saturday the 21st of October 2017, along the Arch Hall Section, of the Ronald Mapp Highway, in the area of the Lawrence Johnson roundabout.
Involved were a motor car being driven by Daniel Haynes 27 years of Jackmans, St. Michael, and two female pedestrians in their mid fifties, which resulted in the death of June Sonia Knight, of Grazettes New Road, St. Michael, and injuries to Yolande Alleyne of Clear View, St. James.
Circumstances
Preliminary investigations revealed both females were part of a group of persons jogging on the shoulder of the highway when they were struck by the motorcar. The women sustained head injuries, and were taken to the QEH by ambulance where June Knight subsequently succumbed to her injuries. Yolande Alleyne is listed as being stable.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or can provide any details which can assist with investigations to call District ‘D’ Police Station at 419-1729, or 419-1726.
