Bitt partners with United Caribbean Trust to help hurricane ravaged islands & kickstarts effort with $60K USD donation

Bitt Inc and the United Caribbean Trust (UCT) are making it possible for donations to be made in bitcoin, as part of a global effort to bring additional relief to Caribbean islands ravaged during the 2017 hurricane season.

Gabriel Abed, Co-Founder of Bitt Inc shares a lighter moment with Jenny Tryhane of the United Caribbean Trust

To kick-start the funding, Bitt and its staff, together with its investment partners, Avatar Capital and, have collectively donated 15 bitcoin, currently valued at $60KUSD.

“UCT’s Founder, Jenny Tryhane, has met and instituted partnerships and working alliances in various Caribbean islands and countries in the interest of socioeconomic change. Bitt and its investment partners, Avatar Capital and are three such allies and we’ve agreed to give a helping hand to our neighbors,” stated Peter George, Chairman of Bitt Inc and head of Avatar Capital.

As part of the Bitt supported program, the Trust is seeking to establish Community Sawyer PointOne Water filters in affected islands, to ensure a ready supply of potable water. A team from the company, as led by George, will visit these islands and assist ‘on the ground’.

“Persons around the world wishing to add to the relief effort, using bitcoin as a preferred form of payment, can do so via The platform is powered by the Bitt Wallet, as supported by Blockchain technology,” said Gabriel Abed, Co-Founder of Bitt.

The care, nature and rehabilitation of those affected by national disasters is at the top of UCT’s list of objectives. Bitt’s own mission is to ’empower every man, woman and child in the Caribbean’ – and as such, the company, and its investors, found it fitting to render assistance.

While we have made our facilities available to individuals around the world to use as a conduit to support this effort, corporate entities are asked to join with us – not just in making financial donations using bitcoin – but to give in other tangible ways. Products and services are welcome,” George underscored.

United Caribbean Trust (UCT) is a Barbadian registered charity #842 as managed by a board of Trustees, an Executive board and a Management/Advisory board. All of UTC’s accounts are audited locally and the charity prides itself in getting its donations on the ground, quickly and to the most needy. It is a subsidiary of United Caribbean Relief, host to the site where bitcoin payments can be made.

UCT has already shipped a 40ft container from Barbados to Antigua – and with the help of Bitt and its investment partners, is aiming for at least three more containers to be filled and dispatched, particularly to meet the need for water.
