The 92nd Regular Meeting of the Directing Council of the Inter-American Children’s Institute (IIN-OAS) will be taking place in Barbados, on the 19th and 20th September 2017. This Inter-American meeting is being held in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development of the Government of Barbados. The venue of the meeting is the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) at Two Mile Hill, St. Michael.

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro Lemes will address the opening session of the Directing Council and will take the opportunity while in Barbados to meet with the Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart and other senior government officials.

The Directing Council over the two-day period will treat with a range of issues related to child rights and child protection. The opening session of the meeting begins at 9:00 am at the LESC.

The OAS Barbados Office extends a special invitation to members of the Barbados Press Corps to a press conference with Almagro Lemes following the opening session.
