2 Jamaicans Charged for Hidden Ganja

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and formally charged two (2) Jamaican nationals for a number of drug related offences, which were committed at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Friday the 15th of September 2017. They are Breanna Ann-Marie Brown 19 years, and Joel Williams 24 years.

Brown and Williams were formally charged for:

• Unlawful Possession of Cannabis
• Possession of Cannabis With Intent to Supply
• Trafficking of Cannabis
• Importation of Cannabis.

Circumstances

Williams and Brown arrived on the island by air on Friday the 15th of September 2017 from Jamaica. Having cleared immigration, they proceeded to Customs where a search of their individual luggage was conducted. During the search three (3) plastic wrapped packages, and fifteen (15) brown taped packages, all containing Cannabis, was discovered concealed in false compartments in the suitcases of Brown and Williams respectively.

Brown and Williams were subsequently handed over to the police, and were later charged for the offences.

Both accused appeared before Acting Magistrate Wayne Clarke in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on Saturday the 16th of September 2017, and were remanded to prison to reappear in the District ‘B’ Magistrates Court on the 19th of September 2017.
