Barbadian to Study at Yale through U.S. Fulbright Programme
The U.S. Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States is pleased to announce that Nicholas Fields is part of the Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship cohort for the academic year 2017-18. Nicholas, who is a Barbadian, traveled to the United States at the end of July, where he will undertake graduate-level studies in environmental management funded by the U.S. Government.
Fields is currently employed as a Senior Project Officer/ICT Administrator at Intasave Caribbean (Caribsave), the Caribbean regional arm of the international not-for-profit organization INTASAVE. This organization works to support and enhance livelihoods, economies, and environments across the world through four core thematic areas: climate change science, policy and practice; low carbon development and renewable energy; society and sustainable livelihoods; and biodiversity, ecosystems and marine conservation. Nicholas will attend Yale University’s School of Forestry & Environmental Studies in New Haven, Connecticut, where he will pursue a master’s degree.
U.S. Ambassador to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS Linda Taglialatela commented, “We’re happy to have a cohort of Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship recipients traveling to the United States for the upcoming academic year. U.S. Embassy Bridgetown is committed to educational exchanges to promote mutual understanding and build strong people-to-people relationships.”
The Fulbright program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government, and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Foreign Student program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer at U.S. universities or other appropriate institutions.
