The Ministry of Labour praised the Barbados Employers Confederation for their achieving the milestone of their 60th Anniversary and noting how they’ve been an active member within the Social partnership.

Senator The Dr Esther Byer Suckoo addressed awardees, former presidents, their new executive director, media and other invitees at the Apes Hill Golf and Country Club over the weekend, she recited some of the key initiatives which bore fruit over the years between the Ministry and the BEC;-

The event also had the privilege of announcing in their sixth decade their latest executive director is not only female but a previous staff member;-

Tony Walcott, the current executive director announced his retirement in October last year, but he’s agreed to hold on until Sheena Mayers-Granville settles in to the post by the next two months.

The Apes Hill Golf & Country Club is an opulent place any Russian gangster would adore, but it’s a pity for the 60th Anniversary of the Barbados Employers Confederation how the PA system was quieter than the ersatz jazz used for Muzak.

You had to strain to hear speeches even inside, God forbid if you were on the patio!

The dinner was great but in dessert while the brownies were superb (albeit no nuts) the cheesecakes were runny and rancid! Perhaps brought out too early?

In time, it will become the chic place it aspires to be…
