Musicians from around the region will have the unique opportunity to display their talent for International buyers and promoters when the CARIFESTA XIII Music Showcase comes off at the Grand Market and Buyers Shopping Mall at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) from August 19th to 26th 2017.

Another innovation for CARIFESTA XIII, this showcase offers the opportunity for Caribbean original works of music to be performed before a panel of international music buyers who have been especially invited to the Festival to expose them to the vast array of talented musicians we have among us in this region.

The Garden Green at LESC has been set aside for this purpose during the 10 day festival and musicians are invited to submit a recording of their work by June 15th to be able to take advantage of this opportunity, where they will be three one-hour shows per day to which the buyers will be attending. Patrons are also invited to view these shows to assist the performers with a live audience as the buyers listen in.

Submission details are available on the website but persons wishing to register are expected to have:

1. Written work that has been recorded and performed in public
2. Written work that has been recorded and published in any of the forms (electronic or non-electronic)

Potential participants are also required to upload samples of their published music and have their Electronic Press Kits for registration.

LESC will house over 200 booths during the 10 day Festival that will feature craft, fine art, fashion, food, music, festivals, home décor and literature to name a few of the items expected on show. The market will comprise an open and indoor Grand Market and shopping mall as well as a Film and Music Hub at the Sheraton Centre and Olympus Theatres not far away.

In addition to those from the region, buyers have been invited from the USA, Canada, Columbia and Europe and will be on the hunt for Caribbean Products which they can take to the world.

“We intend to expose Caribbean Products and Services in all the categories during this Grand Market from Home craft furnishings and gifts to Caribbean festivals and events to items of fashion and apparel to all aspects of food and beverage including high end gourmet products” explained Festival Director Andrea Wells. “At the end of this we want to show that Caribbean products can hold their own in the international markets.” She added.

The Grand Market will feature a number of innovations including televised home shopping via ‘CARIFESTA TV‘, a department store layout and an electronic and printed buyers’ booklet. Daily fashion shows will also be featured, in order to highlight the many regional designers coming for the Festival.

Food tastings, meet the writer sessions, sales and open mic sessions will all form part of the overall experience for patrons.
