On Friday the 23rd of June 2017, members of the Drug Squad, assisted by the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), and members of the Barbados Defense Force (BDF) conducted illegal drug eradication operations in several areas.
A total of 1076 cannabis plants ranging from 5ft to 7ft height were seized.
The areas were:
- Edgecliff, St. John – 558 plants;
- Rock Dundo St. James – 450 plants;
- Friendship Terrace St. Michael – 68 plants
During the operation three (3) men were arrested. They are:
1 Theodore Fitzherbert Hinds, 63 years
2 John Andrew Hinds 19 years
3 Joseph Adrian Hinds 17 years
All of 2nd Ave Rock Dundo St. James.
1) Joseph and John Hinds were both formally charged for:
- Unlawfully Possession of Cannabis
- Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply
- Trafficking Cannabis.
2) Theodore Hinds was formally charged for:
- Unlawful possession of Cannabis.
The three accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court on Friday the 23rd of June 2017.
They all pleaded guilty to the offences, and were each granted bail at the sum of $1,000.00, with one surety, to reappear in court on the 23rd of September pending sentencing.
