From groundbreaking documentaries and films to award-winning series, HBO continues its longstanding commitment of delivering the most talked-about, riveting and thought-provoking content.

The network has confirmed the premiere dates for two new original HBO Film presentations: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks on April 22nd, followed by The Wizard of Lies on May 20th, simultaneously with the premieres in the United States.

An adaptation of Rebecca Skloot’s critically acclaimed, best selling nonfiction book of the same name, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks tells the story of Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line.
Told through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah Lacks, the film chronicles her search, with the help of journalist Rebecca Skloot, to learn about the mother she never knew and understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever.

Directed by George C. Wolfe, the film stars television icon and Oscar®-nominee Oprah Winfrey as Deborah Lacks, and Emmy®-nominated actress Rose Byrne as Skloot. The Immortal Life on Henrietta Lacks premieres April 22nd at 20hrs AST*, exclusively on HBO.

Two-time Oscar® winner Robert De Niro and three-time Oscar® nominee Michelle Pfeiffer star as Bernie and Michelle Maddoff in The Wizard of Lies, an intimate look at the greatest Ponzi scheme of all time and the man behind it all. The film examines Madoff’s deception, lies and cover-up, all as his wife and sons were catapulted in the harsh and unrelenting spotlight.
The Wizard of Lies is directed by Barry Levinson who also serves as executive producer along with Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, Berry Welsh and Tom Fontana, with Jason Sosnoff as co-executive producer. The film was written by Sam Levinson, John Burnham Schwartz and Samuel Baum, and it is based on the book “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust” written by Diana B. Henriques, with additional source material from the book “A Truth and Consequences” by Laurie Sandell. The Wizard of Lies premieres on May 20th at 20hrs AST*, exclusively on HBO.
