Barbadians faced with another Road fatality involving a minor which occurred sometime around 3:36 pm on Wednesday the 15th of February 2017, along Boarded Hall Main Road, St. George, which resulted in the death of Destiny Martina Thompson, a 12 year old pupil of the Springer Memorial School, residing at Vine Yard St. Philip.

Circumstances

Preliminary investigations are suggesting that Thompson, on leaving a minibus was attempting to cross the road behind the bus when she was struck by a motor car being driven by 26 year old Alicia Mayers of Wildey, St. Michael which was travelling in the opposite direction. Thompson received injuries to her head and died on the spot.

This is the second road fatality for the year with similar circumstances, and we are therefore appealing to persons using public transportation to always ensure the road way is clear before attempting to cross the road.

Police are also making an appeal to anyone who would have seen the accident or can provide any information to assist investigations may call the District ‘B’ Police station at telephone 437-4311 or 430-7625.
