$250,207 BBD was raised for improved care of Barbadian canine population by the founder of American Idol, the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
Tony Martin is involved yet again, and sprang for a new van co-sponsored by Terra Caribean and Nassco Limited, this vehicle is to rescue stray or abandoned domesticated dogs. Rally competitor and Managing Director of Terra Caribbean, Andrew Mallalieu, thanked patrons and indicated Terra stands ready to add any further assistance for K9 Barbados.
The evening was very different from what I recall in previous events, a young lady had a DSLR Nikon with a large telephoto and right away she was asked to disassemble it and leave it with Reception, clearly not pleased – she WhatsApped for her ride to collect her instead.
(Apologies for blurry pics, used my Samsung S6 at Max Zoom, but I kept it in my breast pocket and everyone was using their mobiles for pics, so I was not tossed out LOL)
There was also a chance to pay to take a picture with Simon (proceeds towards K9 Barbados as last year there was nearly a riot to get a pic with the UK impresario), which I did since I knew I could get anywhere from 45 seconds to 2 minutes (if lucky) to speak with him, but the young lady who had the large Nikon had already disappeared – so I asked if he thought Jet Ski riders need a License like a car based on the recent accident on the South Coast. He said he didn’t know of the mishap, but the license does not sound like a bad idea…
