Members of the largest NGO on this island – the Barbados Association of Retired Persons (BARP) can plan for the remainder of their future, after being dropped by their medical insurance carrier nearly 12 months ago…

That’s because a United States-based company, come March 1, will provide coverage to over 2,000 retirees through the JIPA Network created by Grenadian physician Dr Kester Nedd (far left).

In a special partnership with the City Of Bridgetown Credit Union, BARP members can recruit loved ones to build on the membership base to increase budgetary effectiveness to drive down the cost of premium payments – this is known as the Family and Friends plan with costs soon to be finalised.

BARP president Ed Bushell explained how Florida-based insurer Premier Assurance (PA) Group had agreed to provide coverage to BARP members following the decision by their previous agency to drop them last year.

The BARP President added Sales Director Oscar Michel of the PA Group confirmed they’ll provide medical coverage in a special policy tailor made for BARP and so previous subscribers can join alongside new members. What will happen is new members will be underwritten with 5 questions related to their health.

The PA Group caters to people’s insurance needs in 195 countries for over the last 18 years.
