OWNER OF CHANNELL SUPERMARKETS TO PURCHASE TRIMART CHAIN
The Barbadian owner of Channell Supermarkets Inc., Ronald (Tony) Catlyn has reached agreement with ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. to purchase the Trimart Supermarket chain as a going concern.
This news was disclosed to the Trimart staff by Nicholas Mouttet, CEO of ANSA McAL (Barbados) Limited who have operated the three supermarkets at Rendezvous, St Martin’s St Philip and Mile and a Quarter, St Peter since May 2011.
Mouttet said that the purchase would encompass the entire Trimart chain and offer continued employment to all of the 125 staff based at the three locations and 8 staff from the Head Office. The sale was finalised yesterday and expands Mr. Catlyn’s retail operations to five stores.

We are particularly happy that the entire chain is going to one buyer and that all of the jobs at the supermarkets will be preserved.” the ANSA MCAL CEO observed.
Mouttet disclosed that there would also be a three-month transitional arrangement between the Trimart and Channell Head Offices, that is designed to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to the new shareholders.

Channell was established in 2001 and operates two 10,000 square foot stores at Black Rock and Collymore Rock. Channell currently employs over 100 persons and carries a wide range of food and household items as well as pharmaceuticals, beauty products and hardware.
