THE Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s (BHTA) Third Quarterly General Meeting on Wednesday, September 21, will focus on the topic ‘Emerging Tourism Leaders – A Fresh View on What we Should Stop, Start and Continue Doing in Tourism‘.

The meeting gets underway at 8 a.m., at Hilton Barbados Resort and takes the form of a panel discussion featuring Josea Browne, Marketing Manager – Online Travel Agent (OTA), Morgan Seale, General Manager – Sugar Bay Barbados, Andre Miller, General Manager – Barbados Blue Water Sports and Stephen Austin, General Manager – Port St. Charles.

Each panelist will make an introductory presentation on a specific topic. Browne’s will be on IT/SME and Revenue Management – Managing our Revenue – Are we Analytical Enough?; Seale’s on Can the Indigenous Product Survive against the Landscape of International Brands?; Miller’s on Young Entrepreneur Niche Dive – Can Tourism do Better in Interacting with the Marine Environment; and Austin’s on Cohesive National Plan – How Can we Improve our Service Levels and Tourism Awareness in Barbados to Remain Competitive with other destinations?

BHTA Chairman, Roseanne Myers, noted, “With the current state of the industry and the economy of the island in general, our Association is of the opinion that businesses need to be rejuvenated, both in terms of physical characteristics and in their method of operation. We have, therefore, themed this meeting based on Entrepreneurship, with a panel of emerging successful, dedicated and young entrepreneurs from our tourism sector.”

After the presentations the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, make comments and discuss, during a Question and Answer segment. The meeting will also see Myers presenting her first Interim Quarterly Report since taking up, while CEO Sue Springer will deliver the Administrative Review for the last Quarter.

The meeting is open to members of the public. For further information or reservations, please contact the BHTA’s Judy Wilkinson at 622-5041.
