Freundel Stuart Regime’s credibility on the line, BCCI Director lambastes
WITH EVERY PROJECT that Government touts but then fails to get off the ground, the administration loses credibility.
The warning has come from executive director of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) Lisa Gale. Moreover, the top BCCI official lamented that the island has been through seven years of “economic turmoil” and “more often than not it seems like this phase is not leaving us; sometimes more because of inaction than because of action”.
In a hard-hitting submission to members in the BCCI’s latest monthly publication, Gale said that with the Budget looming, the private sector was not seeking handouts from the Freundel Stuart administration.
“As a spokesperson for the private sector I can say confidently that we are not looking for handouts but hand-ups. Our businesses must feel as though they can trade in a free and fair manner in the various sectors they are participating in.”
