Smartwatch From Trident Contest – ‘Father Knows Best’

By the time a man realizes that his father was right, he has a son who thinks he’s wrong.

Thankfully, not all Barbadians agree with this proverb. Jalisa Phillips, winner of the Trident Insurance “Father Knows Best” competition held for Fathers’ Day values her dad’s advice.

Phillips won a brand new Apple Watch, the latest in wearable technology as a gift for her father, Calvin Phillips.

Participants shared the best pieces of advice their fathers have ever given them to the Trident Insurance Facebook page for a chance to win the grand prize.

Jalisa believed that her father’s advice to ‘grab life by the horns’ was the most meaningful to her.

“What is ‘meant to be‘ it’s up to you… an opportunity you have wasted can never be regained… if you’re afraid of making a mistake in life you will never accomplish anything.”

According to father Calvin, fathers need to provide enough guidance for their children to learn without repeating the mistakes of their parents.

Too many fathers don’t give their children advice on how to cope with life’s challenges. They might not listen now, but at least they would remember in the future” Calvin added.

In congratulating the winning father, Charlene Vidal, Senior Account Executive at Trident Insurance, said that family is an important part of the Trident Insurance philosophy.

At Trident, we know the importance of having a strong family bond. Part of that is sharing with children and equipping them with sound knowledge so they can make good choices in life. Fatherly advice is particularly important, and we are happy to reward Calvin for his great job raising his daughter.”

On her winning entry, Jalisa commented that without the constant support and guidance of her father, she would not have achieved as much as she has so far in life.

Vidal said the company was pleased by both the quantity of entries received and the great advice shared by the entrants.
