The process to certification was headed by Marsha Williams, the Manager of the Quality, Food Safety and Hygiene Department. She is an ISO22000:2005 Food Safety Management Lead Auditor certified by the globally recognized International Register of Certified Auditors. She worked with nine members from various departments, who themselves are ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Internal Auditors and are certified by the Caribbean Institute of Quality. Together they formed a Food Safety Management Team that worked diligently to provide the necessary requirements for the key components of the HACCP certification.

“It was a learning experience for the entire staff as the HACCP Auditor did a very thorough audit, reviewing all the HACCP documentation, our processes and procedures and also conducting staff interviews” stated Acting General Manager Pedro Corbin. “We had to take some corrective action in specific areas in order to be compliant and these will be maintained to ensure thatwe sustain the certification for the years to come” he added.

President of the Goddard Catering Group, Stewart Massiah, explained “The company has been HACCP compliant for many years and management took a decision in 2015 to pursue the company’s dream of becoming a fully certified International HACCP company and we are very proud of our team and the work that they have done to achieve this certification.”

The company annually provides opportunities for both University and other tertiary level students to work alongside the members of the team and so, they too will now benefit from the HACCP certification processes which should further assist them as they enter the various fields in the hospitality industry.
