CRICKETING PORTRAIT RAISES BIG MONEY FOR CHILDREN OF SANDY LANE CHARITABLE TRUST

The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust has been helping the children of Barbados in a variety of ways for over 12 years, however only made possible through generous donations and funds raised from its supporters such as Sir Martyn & Lady Sally Arbib.

The unveiling of "Sir Gary on The Green" as The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust offers thanks & appreciation to Jeena Chatrani (Artist), patrons Sir Martyn & Lady Sally Arbib and the portrait's subject Sir Gary Sobers for this gesture that ultimately benefits hundreds in fact thousands of children in Barbados, changing their lives in a positive way forever.

The Players

Jeena Chatrani, Local impressionist artist with an exceptional talent painted and donated to the Trust (with kind permission of Cricket Legend Sir Gary Sobers in honour of his 80th year) this beautiful piece depicting so well his smile and legendary personality.

Sir Martyn & Lady Sally Arbib, supporters of the work carried out by The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust for many years were in attendance at the annual fundraising event and charity Auction held on January 15th 2016. The children captured their hearts and the artwork, namely “Sir Gary On the Green” captured their eyes during the live auction and they were determined to win the bidding on this collector’s piece, they did so for an exceptional (undisclosed) amount.

Sir Gary Sobers, Cricket legend (80 years young this July) was also in attendance at the event and received an unprecedented gesture of kindness and philanthropy.

Sir Martyn and Lady Arbib donated this prestigious piece to Sir Gary Sobers, who in turn decided it should be displayed for all Barbadians and Cricket Fans to admire and appreciate for many years to come.
