Police have made a breakthrough into a spate of thefts. Shane Daniel Jeremiah Polin, 30 years of Bartlett Tennantry, Sargeants Village, Christ Church was arrested and formally charged with 19 counts of Theft.
Most of these thefts occurred when unsuspected motorists were travelling on the road with their vehicle windows down in slow moving or stationary traffic. These thefts occurred between August and December 2015. Some of these thefts occurred in the areas of Pine Plantation, Rendezvous Hill/Fordes Road, Government Hill.
Then, on Wednesday, he will be back before Magistrate Christopher Birch in District C when the facts of the five matters will be presented. He is expected to be sentenced after attorney-at-law Mohia Ma’at mitigates on his behalf.
Altogether, Polin is facing 23 charges; including 20 counts of stealing handbags and their contents.He has two more for stealing purses and one for stealing a portfolio. All of the complainants are female. The total value of the stolen items was just shy of $22,000 BBD.
Polin’s five confessions today related to victims Nesha Raja, Lavonne Parris, Richelle Brewster, Diana Jerson and Moreen Bushelle, whose bags were stolen between September 6 and December 23 last year.
