DIGICEL HAILED AS FASTEST 4G NETWORK IN BARBADOS

Digicel customers benefit from the fastest 4G network in Barbados – that’s the big news coming from an independent report by experts Brightcomms this week.

With Digicel’s 4G network delivering speeds more than twice as fast as the competitor’s network, Digicel’s 2G or voice network was also singled out for praise in the area of call quality.

Brightcomms is an independent engineering services company specialising in providing total solutions to meet the dynamic needs of the telecom industry. Its benchmarking measurement allowed Digicel to determine its network performance in the market compared with its competitors through an independent and reliable third party analysis. The audit was carried out in Barbados by Brightcomms between 5th and 12th January 2016.

Jonathan Molea, Brightcomms Commercial Director explained; “Our in-depth audit shows that Digicel’s data service is the best performing in Barbados. On average Digicel’s throughput (which is the way we measure speed on the network) is around 4.6 Mbps while FLOW’s is approximately 1.7 Mbps.”

Dwight Grannum, Digicel Barbados Core Network Manager, comments; “At Digicel, we care about four things – delivering best network, best service and best value and giving back to our communities. This independent audit by Brightcomms demonstrates that, when it comes to best network, we are getting it right with our customers enjoying the benefits of the fastest 4G speeds in Barbados as well as great call quality on the voice side.

“On top of that of course, we are known for delivering the best value to our customers – an example of that is our social plans that deliver free music streaming, free WhatsApp, free Facebook, free Instagram and free Twitter and have been very well received. So all in all, this is great news for Digicel customers, but we are not resting on our laurels, we will continue to invest in and optimise our service to ensure our customers always benefit from being part of the Digicel family.”
