CHILDREN GET PAYLESS CHRISTMAS SHOES

The meaning of Christmas for 200 Barbadian children came wrapped this year as a new pair of shoes each, as Payless ShoeSource continued its partnership with Variety, the Children’s Charity of Barbados under the annual Payless Gives™ Shoes 4 Kids program.
The first thirty of these deserving children from the Charles F. Broome Special Unit received their shoes as part of an enjoyable and exciting visit to Payless ShoeSource, at Sheraton Centre. The day was complete when, after selecting their new shoes, the children were treated to lunch and a movie at the Olympus Theatres.

Alison Haynes-John, Barbados Country Manager, Payless ShoeSource, said the annual programme was one which everyone at Payless looked forward to as a major highlight of the Christmas season.
“We are once again delighted to welcome the children to Payless to share in the joys of this Christmas season. A new pair of shoes has for many people come to symbolize the meaning of Christmas and what better way for us to say merry Christmas to the children of Barbados than with a new pair of shoes. Variety, the Children’s Charity of Barbados have partnered with us from the inception of this program in Barbados a few years ago, and we are very proud to extend this partnership on behalf of the children of Barbados.”

Payless is providing a total of 200 gift coupons valued at BBD $60.00 each to Variety, the Children’s Charity of Barbados, for distribution to children, who will be able to redeem the coupons at any of Payless’ five locations in Barbados at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall; Hastings Plaza, Christ Church; Broad Street, Bridgetown; Sheraton Centre; and The Walk, Redmans Village.
Executive Director of the Variety Club, Donnah Russell said the continuing partnership with Payless and the Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program was a mutually beneficial one.
“We are again grateful to Payless for this opportunity to bring joy to the children at this special time of the year. Our thanks to Payless not just for the new shoes, but for making it possible for us to share in this special day spending quality time with our children.”
The ‘Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program’ is an international initiative, benefitting children throughout this region and across the globe. Through this program, the company will provide free shoes to children in need across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Latin American and Caribbean countries this holiday season.

The local component of the ‘Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program‘ is a fulfillment of a commitment made by the company at its official launch in Barbados in May, 2012.
The Payless Gives charity partner network has included as many as 800 charities and this local grassroots approach helps the company to effectively reach children in need of shoes, as well as ensures widespread coverage across urban and rural areas.
