Fifteen local beauties have been selected to compete in the preliminary round of the highly anticipated 2016 Banks Beer Calendar Girl competition.

They will grace the stage in casual attire and swimwear, both reflecting the Banks Beer colours of red, black and white. This year, the official Banks Beer costumes have been produced by noted Caribbean designer Lauren Austin of Zulu International – the same person who designed international superstar Rihanna’s show-stopping Crop Over regalia.
“We are very pleased that this competition continues to attract such a diverse group of beautiful and talented Barbadian women,” said Charles Walcott, Category Manager for Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited, who also noted the contestants had already had their first official photoshoot with well-known photographer Junior Morgan of The Morgan Media.
“We have also introduced a superheroes theme, so the costumes and poses throughout the competition will be empowering. As was done for the first, the backdrops and settings for upcoming photoshoots will also be transformed to represent the fantasy world of superheroes.”
This year marks the 21st anniversary of the iconic poster with the newly crowned Banks Calendar Girl receiving a one-year contract and $10,000 cash. The winner will also be featured in Banks Beer’s marketing activities and promotional campaigns for the corresponding period.
“Barbadians eagerly look forward to this competition and already there is some positive buzz surrounding the prospective candidates. In essence, we are looking for someone with the complete package of beauty, intelligence and charm to not only represent the Banks Beer brand, but equally as important, the people of Barbados,” added Walcott.
The public will also have the chance to select a People’s Choice winner by voting online for their preferred contestant at www.facebook.com/mybanksbeer and www.bankscalendargirl.com.
