FINAL SEASON OF ‘GETTING ON’ PREMIERES EXCLUSIVELY ON HBO
HBO has announced the premiere of the third and final season of the original comedy series, Getting On, on Sunday 8th November at 23hrs AST*, simultaneously with the United States. The six-episode season, based on the BBC series of the same name, has been a hit with critics and audiences alike since its debut in 2013.
From creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer (co-creators of the acclaimed HBO series, Big Love), the series follows the daily lives of the nurses and doctors of the Extended Care Unit, who attend to the needs of female patients often “getting on” in years, while dealing with the challenges of a health-care bureaucracy in need of an overhaul.
The new season kicks off eight months after the conclusion of season two, which finds Dr. James determined to put the corporate-hospice scandal behind her, pushing her research ambitions further than ever before. Nurse DiDi emerges as a union leader amidst a family dilemma that finds its way into her work.
Getting On stars Laurie Metcalf (three-time Emmy® award winner for Roseanne) as Dr. Jenna James, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) as Nurse Dawn, and Niecy Nash (Reno 911!) whose portrayal of Nurse DiDi, earned her an Emmy® award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Mel Rodriguez (Community) also stars, as Nurse Patsy De La Serda.
The third and final season includes a bevy of guest stars including Rhea Perlman (Cheers), Frances Conroy (HBO’s Six Feet Under), Grant Bowler (Defiance), Rita Moreno (West Side Story), Kristen Johnston (Third Rock from the Sun), Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s), and musician Janis Ian, as well as Vicky Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan, stars of the original British show on which the HBO series is based. Returning guest stars include Jayma Mays, Mary Kay Place, June Squibb, Harry Dean Stanton and Daniel Stern.
Getting On was created by Olsen and Scheffer, who also serve as executive producers alongside Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Geoff Atkinson, Jo Brand, Joanna Scanlan and Vicki Pepperdine.
