Barbados Tennis Association 2015 Sol Nationals Closing Ceremony

Sol, the leading supplier of energy products in the Caribbean, is a proud sponsor of the 2015 Sol Open and ITF Grade 5 Seniors/Super Seniors Nationals Tennis Tournament, a primary highlight of the Barbados Tennis Association’s (BTA) sports calendar.

Gina Cummins, Sales and Marketing Manager of Sol (Barbados) Ltd., recently presented a cheque to Patricia Murray of the Barbados Tennis Association. Cummins stated that Sol is pleased with the performances in the tournament and expressed Sol’s commitment to playing its part in the development of the sport in Barbados.

Commenting on Sol’s sponsorship of the tournament, Murray stated, “I wish to thank Sol for all of the support that it has given to the BTA’s activities.”

The two-week tournament, which began on September 25, came to a close with an official prize-giving ceremony for the 2015 Sol Nationals Junior, Open and Seniors Tennis tournament on October 14 at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St. Michael.

Introductory remarks were made by Vice President of the Barbados Tennis Association, Sandra Osborne, who highlighted Darian King’s recent success at the Fairfield Men’s Pro Challenger Tennis Tournament in California where he advanced to the Quarter Finals.

In his welcome, General Manager of Sol (Barbados) Ltd., Ezra Prescod, offered congratulatory remarks to the players and to the BTA, "We are very pleased with the performances and the high level of skill and enthusiasm exhibited by players of all ages, which made for an exciting tournament," said Prescod.

Mr. Prescod presented medals to the winners and finalists of the Junior events, eventually handing over to Karen Bishop-McClean, Sales Executive, Sol (Barbados) Ltd., who presented the prizes for the Open and Seniors events.

The 2015 Sol Masters National tournament has been accredited as an ITF Grade 5 Senior tournament and players are able to register with the International Tennis Federation and to receive points for winning matches in the event.
