Honey Jam Barbados appeals for Assistance for Artist Workshops and Concert

After successful auditions on Tuesday September 8 at Divi Southwinds, the judges will have their work cut out for them to choose the final lineup. A range of musical styles were presented as the artists had just 60 seconds to impress the panel.

Many were nervous with judges like international recording artist Vita Chambers on the panel, but most managed to compose themselves and deliver a solid performance.

Now that the auditions have occurred, the workshops will be starting very shortly and the severe funding shortage is presenting a challenge for the organizers. Having received some support for 2 of the 3 workshops, producer Rowe is still seeking support for the first workshop coming up in just a few weeks.

“All of the artists work with some of our best local vocal coaches on the island, and we also expose them to international panellists who also promote Barbados in their home country. Our first workshop is a master class in vocal technique and performance by internationally known coach Elaine Overholt. Sought after by many record labels to train their new artists, she is currently working with new Pharrell Williams protege Francesco Yates, and has also worked with Canadian Idol, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Queen Latifah and trained the cast of the Oscar winning film Chicago.”

Artists chosen for this year's programme will be announced on October 15.

Organizers are also looking for additional financial assistance to stage the concert in November.
